1. What’s the difference between the 32mm and 82mm models?

The 32mm is for fine work and portability. The 82mm is for larger tasks and extra grip range. Both are built with the same steel and jaws.

2. Can Morphvise really clamp round or fragile items?

Absolutely. The fractal jaws adjust to contact multiple points evenly, so you can clamp irregular or delicate objects securely without crushing.

3. Can I reverse the jaws?

Yes! The Morphvise supports inside-out clamping — perfect for gripping objects from the interior like mugs, rings, or circular frames.

4. What materials are used?

Everything is metal. 440-grade stainless steel, 420C hardened jaws, 304 bolts, 316 base, HT brass knobs, and engineering-grade silicone feet.

5. What are the different jaw options for the Fractal Vise?

Fractal jaws:

The fractal jaws will clamp any difficult shape, like round tubes, irregular mouldings, or miniature bananas! They give you a secure way to hold your commonly unclamp-able parts, so you can work on your projects in totally new ways or just save your hands from cramp! Each jaw moves to wrap around any shape to grip on multiple points to carefully hug your weird shaped bits. Made from martensitic stainless steel.

Silicone soft jaws:

This stainless steel backed and silicone fronted set of jaws offer a bit more grip while working on a fine polished surface. Perfect for jewellery making for instance, or a soft painted surface, as the grippy silicone will deform further around the part being held. These are designed for when a hard clamping force is not as necessary with delicate jobs.

Silicone is a very 'sticky' material so it will provide a very high friction grip to anything you put in it. It's particularly useful for any highly polished slippery parts, or delicate model work where grip and a delicate touch is required. Made from martensitic stainless steel and engineering grade silicone.

6. Is there a warranty?

Absolutely. Every Spancal™ Morphvise is covered by a 5-year warranty for defects or breakage under normal use.

7. Why is Morphvise more expensive than other small vises?

Mass-market vises are cast in molds and often misaligned. Morphvise is precision CNC-milled, reversible, adaptable to almost any shape, and made from solid stainless steel or titanium. It’s a tool you’ll hand down — not replace.

8. How far do the jaws open when the vise is reversed?

When the jaws are reversed the minimum internal diameter is approx 60mm, and the maximum internal diameter on the 82mm Fractal Vise is approx 175mm, and on the 32mm Fractal Vise the maximum internal diameter would be 125mm.
